If you are travelling internationally on business it is best to use the below mentioned checklist

  1. Complete all your travel documentation in advance. Take a copy of your visa, passport and other travel documents.
  2. Take the office contact details and your colleagues contact details before the start of your trip.
  3. If you are being picked up by someone at the airport ensure that you have that individual contact details or make your bookings accordingly.
  4. Arrange for a matrix number or local number.
  5. Carry the local currency depending on your approximate spending.
  6. Get an itinerary made by you or the business associate you are meeting internationally.
  7. Plan your business stay accordingly as per your travel plan objectives and the itinerary.
  8. Book your stay and transportation depending on whether it is being arranged locally or you will need to do it yourself.
  9. Take a map of the city you will be visiting and a local translator if necessary.
  10. Learn a few local language words. It will be very useful.
  11. Depending if you have visited this city before or not, it may be advisable to carry some cookie packets for yourself.
  12. Carry a book for leisure reading in the hotel after business hours.
  13. It is advisable to do a bit of research before visiting the city so you are familiar with the local traditions in terms of food, dress code and other local beliefs and traditions.
  14. It is probably a good idea to speak to a colleague based out that city or country so someone who has visited that city in the recent past for a business meeting.
  15. It is advisable to check the local climate and pack your clothes accordingly.
