Through our recruitment process we may not realize but we have the opportunity of making or breaking our Employer brand. As recruiters this is the first stage where we can engage potential employees so are we doing it right? Creating and building our employer brand is important as this will help the organization attract and retain the best talent in the industry. Listed below are the stages of the Recruitment process and how we can create and be the ‘Employer of Choice’.

Stage 1- Attracting Talent

1. It starts with the Job Posting or Job Advertisement:
Are we doing it right? This is our first chance to create a good brand. There are many candidates who may not apply to a job posting because he is not attracted to the Job posting. Listed below are few tips to sell as good Job posting either on your career page or job portals:
a) A brief of the company which the position is available.
b) The role and responsibilities of the position
c) Location of the position
d) Key account abilities.
e) Education and Work experience requirements.
g) Run a spell check and a grammar check.
h) Insert contact details for correspondence

2. Company career page
If your company doesn’t already have a career page, it would be a great idea to have a career section on your company website. Listed below are few tips for your career page:
a) List all current job postings.
b) The role and responsibilities of the position
c) Location of the position
d) Key account abilities.
e) Education and Work experience requirements.
g) Run a spell check and a grammar check.
h) Insert contact details for correspondence
i) A brief on Career Planning in your organization
j) A brief on Training and Development

3. Company website
Although you may have a career page/ section. The company website tells prospective candidates and external customers a lot about the culture, the people, the values, mission, vision. A company website should consist of these aspects.4. Career Fair and Company Forums
Your company representative needs to be presented at all employment forums, company foums and career fairs as applicable to show presence of the company.

Stage 2- Interview Potential candidates

1. Recruiter must brief the candidate about the role and requirements of the job.
2. Recruiter must send an email brief of the job requirements, role and location details of the interview.
3. Recruiter must be friendly and approachable
4. Panel must be ready at the stipulated time slot for the interview. It is advisable not to keep the candidate waiting for more than 15 minutes.
5. The candidate must wait in a comfortable waiting space. Many companies have a assigned room for candidates to wait.
6. Be courteous and friendly on greeting the candidate.
Stage 3- Offer making
If the candidate you have interviewed is best suited for the role he can be offered. Tips for managing this process
1. Process between the interview and offer making should not be more than 7-10 business days.
2. Process must be smooth.
3. Candidate should already feel part of the company.
Stage 4- Pre joining
1. Provide details about the company
2. HR Representative should prepare the candidate’s joining
3. HR Representative should stay in touch with the candidate throughout the process
Stage 5- Joining
1. Arranging an on boarding program for the new joinee
2. Making him/ her feel welcomed.

Through the recruitment process we can really build our Employer Brand as I am sure as a new joinee he will share his experience with his peers who are working in different industries or companies. We need to create that WOW effect which will create the experience of a life time.
